send this to a friend"Fantasia" refers to a specific style of decorative, glazed ceramics from Guadalajara produced for the tourists who streamed into Mexico when the Pan-American Highway opened in the early part of the 20th century. Colorful images of highly fantasized plants and animals were painted onto sun-dried clay vessels which were then glazed and fired once in order to produce a polished surface. Some examples of Fantasia pottery convey luminescent energy as the background is dark and the figures are painted in a bright contrasting hue. Our print translates a typical Fantasia decorative theme with blue figures superimposed on a black background, recreating the light and colors of night in the desert.
